This intimate masterclass invites readers to learn directly from Dr. Mary Okelo—trailblazing banker, educator, entrepreneur and champion of women’s leadership.
The Ladder She Built is the required pre-reading. Participants should purchase and read the book before attending, then come ready to discuss its lessons with Dr. Okelo herself: how conviction becomes action, how institutions are built, how women create access for one another, and what it means to hold a ladder for others to climb.
Drawing on the book’s interview, leadership case study and workshop reflections, Dr. Okelo will lead a thoughtful, practical conversation for leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, students and changemakers. Each session turns lived experience into usable insight—inviting participants to reflect on their own values, choices, communities and legacy.
The author will occasionally invite the subjects of the books as guest speakers, creating rare opportunities for readers to engage with the people whose lives and lessons shape the series. The author will also work to translate the books into the mother tongues of the subjects, as well as Kiswahili, Africa’s lingua franca.
